My Story

Rachel

Hello, I’m Rachel and I run Embodied Pilates from my home in Frenchay.

I am a fully qualified equipment and mat work Pilates instructor having completed extensive training with the Physiotherapy and Pilates Rehabilitation Centre in affiliation with Alan Herdman Pilates a world leading Pilates training provider.

I have always been physically active even from a young age competing at a county level cross country running to travelling around the world as an adult Rock climbing and Snowboarding.

After the birth of my two children, I found it difficult to juggle being a mother and help my body recover from the changes of giving birth whilst maintaining my love of fitness. That’s when I found Pilates! I can honestly say I felt like a new woman after experiencing the benefits of post-natal classes.  Stronger, more energy and calmer so much so that I decided to embark on a new career as a Pilates teacher.

Life.

About 8 years ago I became very ill and was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, it was a devastating and a scary time for me.

I can honestly say that without Pilates in my life, my rehabilitation would have been very different.  It has become essential to my health and wellbeing, to rehabilitate and support myself through the numerous flares, pain, stiffness, and mobility issues.

I understand first-hand how overwhelming and devastating a diagnosis can be, impacting on your physical health, mental health and well-being.

Adapt.

I use my knowledge and personal experience with my understanding of the human body gained from my Biological Sciences degree to produce highly effective and appropriate Pilates programmes, with the aim of supporting you through your movement journey.
